My name is Julie Holt. I live in Tennessee and I’m a 34 year old mother of 3 children, my oldest (Lucas) is a type 1 diabetic.
We’ve been active in walks and volunteering for JDRF since Lucas was diagnosed in 2005. I’m a family network mentor and support group leader for my area. Lucas is 12 and has been a type 1 for 7 years now. He’s a thriving 12 year old who handles being a T1 with great stride 
He doesn’t let it get him down.
In the beginning I felt very alone after diagnosis. After going through a grieving process I started being pro active. And haven’t stopped since We’re looking forward to our local walk this year in Murfreesboro TN at the end of October. Our team name is Holt’s heroes.
