Jane K. Dickinson is a registered nurse and certified diabetes educator; she knows diabetes both personally and professionally. Diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in 1975, Jane spent several summers at diabetes camp as a camper, counselor and student nurse. Later she served as the Director of Clinical Services and Education at The Barton Center for Diabetes Education. In 2000, Jane developed the Diabetes Education Program at Yampa Valley Medical Center, which she oversaw for 12 years. While continuing to be a diabetes resource for her local community, Jane took on a new role in March of 2011. She is the Program Coordinator for the Diabetes Education and Management Masters Program at Teachers College Columbia University. She lives in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, and works remotely, teaching courses and administering this graduate program. In her spare time, Jane loves to walk, write, travel, listen to music, watch movies, and spend time with her husband and two children. Jane writes about diabetes on her blog at www.janekdickinson.com.
